Ixogyra was named by Eliasova (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo Sepkoski's reference number: 258]. It is not extant. Its type is Ixogyra ypsiloni.

It was assigned to Dendrogyriidae by Eliasova (1974); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
