Taxonomy
Unenlagia paynemili was named by Calvo et al. (2004). Its type specimen is MUCPv-349 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Futalognko Quarry, Costa Dinosaurio [MUCP], which is in a Turonian/Coniacian channel lag conglomerate/sandstone in the Portezuelo Formation of Argentina.
