Lochmaeosmilia was named by Wells (1943) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo K u Sepkoski's reference number: 847]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Amphiastreidae by Wells (1956); to Actinastraeidae by Beauvais (1988); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
