Lapparentosaurus

Reptilia

Taxonomy
Lapparentosaurus was named by Bonaparte (1986) [The nomenclature is confusing as Bonaparte says that B. madagascariensis needs a new generic name, but then offers Lapparentosaurus madagascariensis as gen. nov. sp. nov. and with a new specimen as holotype. Thus the two are considered distinct taxa here.].

It was assigned to Sauropoda by Bonaparte (1999); to Brachiosauridae by McIntosh (1990), McIntosh (1990), Upchurch (1995), Upchurch (1995), McIntosh (1997) and Upchurch and Martin (2003); to Neosauropoda by Flynn et al. (2006); to Titanosauriformes by Upchurch et al. (2004) and Company (2011); to Cetiosauridae by Bonaparte (1986), Bonaparte (1986) and Raveloson et al. (2019); and to Eusauropoda by Wilson (2002), Mannion et al. (2013), Mannion et al. (2017) and Mannion et al. (2019).
