Taxonomy
Grallator tenuis was named by Hitchcock (1858). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is AC 12/3-12/4, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is below Turners Falls, tracksite, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian fluvial-lacustrine sandstone/shale in the Portland Formation of Massachusetts.

  • Anchisauripus hitchcocki was named by Lull (1904). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is AC 56/1, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lily Pond Quarry, Gill, which is in a Hettangian fluvial-lacustrine siltstone/sandstone in the Turners Falls Formation of Massachusetts.

    It was recombined as Anchisauripus (Grallator) hitchcocki by Olsen (1981); it was recombined as Grallator (Anchisauripus) hitchcocki by Olsen and Galton (1984) and Lockley (1986); it was synonymized subjectively with Grallator tenuis by Weems (1992); it was considered a nomen dubium by Baird (1957).
  • Grallator formosus was named by Hitchcock (1858). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is AC 3/1, 4/1, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Moody's Corner, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in the Portland Formation of Massachusetts.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Grallator tenuis by Weems (1992).
  • Grallator cuneatus was named by Hitchcock (1858). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is AC 25/1, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Lily Pond Quarry, Gill, which is in a Hettangian fluvial-lacustrine siltstone/sandstone in the Turners Falls Formation of Massachusetts.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Grallator tenuis by Weems (1992).
  • Atreipus acadianus was named by Olsen and Baird (1986). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PU 21713B, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Paddy's Island tracksite, which is in a Carnian terrestrial sandstone/siltstone in the Wolfville Formation of Canada.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Grallator tenuis by Weems (1992); it was synonymized subjectively with Atreipus milfordensis by Hunt and Lucas (2007).
