Microsolena was named by Lamouroux (1821) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo K Ceno-u Sepkoski's reference number: 819,920,1270]. It is not extant. Its type is Microsolena porosa.
It was assigned to Microsolenidae by Roniewicz (1976), Errenst (1991) and Errenst (1991); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
