Misistella was named by Eliasova (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: J u Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Misistella amabilis.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Misistellidae by Roniewicz (2008).
