Turritella sulcifera was named by Deshayes (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Lutetian-Bartonian of Europe, Lutetian of Nigeria]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Torquesia (Ispharina) sulcifera by Marwick (1957); it was recombined as Turritella (Ispharina) sulcifera by Glibert (1962); it was recombined as Torquesia (Ispharina) sulciferus by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); it was recombined as Ispharina sulcifera by Bone et al (1991) and Jeffery and Tracey (1997).
