Stichocorys was named by Haeckel (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 686]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Eucyrtidiidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
