Mycetophylliopsis was named by Oppenheim (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo K Sant-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,818]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Montlivaltiinae by Wells (1956); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
