Myriophyllia was named by d'Orbigny (1849) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-l K Albi Sepkoski's reference number: 806]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Faviidae by Roniewicz (1976); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
