Nicaeotrochus was named by Barta-Calmus (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Turbinolia cyclolitoides.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Turbinoliidae by Kiessling (2003).
