Lapparentosaurus madagascariensis
Taxonomy
Lapparentosaurus madagascariensis was named by Bonaparte (1986) [The nomenclature is confusing as Bonaparte says that B. madagascariensis needs a new generic name, but then offers Lapparentosaurus madagascariensis as gen. nov. sp. nov. and with a new specimen as holotype. Thus the two are considered distinct taxa here.]. Its type specimen is MAA 91-92, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Andranomamy, Tsinjorano, which is in a Bathonian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Isalo III Formation of Madagascar.
