Agustinia was named by Bonaparte (1999). Its type is Agustinia ligabuei.
It was considered a nomen dubium by D'Emic (2012) and Mannion et al. (2013).
It was assigned to Agustiniidae by Bonaparte (1999); to Lithostrotia by Curry Rogers (2005); to Titanosauria by Wilson (2002), Upchurch et al. (2004) and Mannion and Calvo (2011); and to Rebbachisauridae by Bellardini et al. (2023).
