Taxonomy
Omphalophyllia was named by Laube (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Sepkoski's reference number: 919,920]. Its type is Montlivaltia gracilis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Conophyllia by Wells (1956).

It was assigned to Conophyllidae by Turnsek (1997); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
