Taxonomy
Oppelismilia was named by Duncan (1867). It is not extant. Its type is Oppelismilia gemmans. It is the type genus of Oppelismiliidae.

It was assigned to Stylophyllidae by Roniewicz (1989); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oppelismiliidae by Roniewicz (2009).
