Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
A. P. Hunt et al. 1998As for genus.
M. D. Ezcurra and S. L. Brusatte 2011Camposaurus arizonensis is a basal neotheropod dinosaur distinguished from other dinosauriforms by the following combination of apomorphies (autapomorphies with asterisk): the posterior edge of the tibial articular surface for the fibula is prominent and takes the form of a sharp longitudial ridge* and a strongly developed, anteriorly bowed, diagonal tuberosity on its medial surface; and astragalus without a strong anterior projection of the medial condyle of the astragalar body* (convergently acquired by the nondinosaur dinosauromorph Silesaurus), resulting in a sub-rectangular astragalar body in distal view and a ventral margin incipiently concave in anterior view.
