Taxonomy
Gondwanatherium was named by Bonaparte (1986). It is not extant. Its type is Gondwanatherium patagonicum.
It was assigned to Gondwanatheriidae by Bonaparte (1986), Bonaparte (1986) and Bonaparte (1990); and to Sudamericidae by Krause and Bonaparte (1993), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004) and Krause et al. (2014).
