Pachythecalis was named by Cuif (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l Sepkoski's reference number: 658,919]. It is not extant. Its type is Pachythecalis major.
It was assigned to Zardinophyllidae by Roniewicz and Stolarski (2001); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
