Palocyathus was named by Filkorn (1994) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 1125]. It is not extant. Its type is Palocyathus seymourensis.
It was assigned to Turbinoliidae by Cairns (1997); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
