It was assigned to Pleurodira by de la Fuente and Iturralde-Vinent (2001); to Pleurodira by Joyce et al. (2004); to Panpleurodira by Danilov and Parham (2008), Anquetin et al. (2009) and Anquetin (2012); to Testudines by Joyce (2007), Perea et al. (2014) and Puntener et al. (2014); and to Platychelyidae by de la Fuente et al. (2014).
