Anomoepus crassus
Taxonomy
Apatichnus crassus was named by Hitchcock (1889). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Rutgers University 50:4:1, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Vreeland Quarry tracksite, which is in a Hettangian terrestrial horizon in the Towaco Formation of New Jersey.
It was synonymized subjectively with Anomoepus scambus by Olsen and Rainforth (2003); it was recombined as Anomoepus crassus by Lull (1904), Lull (1915), Lull (1917), Hay (1930), Lull (1953), Kuhn (1963), Haubold (1971), Thulborn and Wade (1984), Gierlinski (1991) and Dalman and Weems (2013).
