Procladocora was named by Alloiteau (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr K Sant Sepkoski's reference number: 818,819].

It was synonymized subjectively with Cladocora by Wells (1956).

It was assigned to Heliastraeidae by Turnsek (1997); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Faviidae by Löser (2010); and to Merulinidae by Kiessling (2021).
