Rennensismilia was named by Alloiteau (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 691]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Meandriidae by Turnsek (1997); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Euphylliinae by Alloiteau (1952), Alloiteau (1952) and Baron-Szabo (2006).
