Triacartus was named by Haeckel (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: K R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Stichoperidae by Loeblich and Tappan (1961); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms
  • Stichopilium was named by Haeckel (1882) [5b. Tribe: Stichopilida. Open, triradiate Stichocyrtida. A. Stichopilida with wings (with three lateral appendages). AI. With three wings spiny, not latticed. Ib. Acute (cephalis spiny, not smooth). (Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]. It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Haeckel (1882).

    It was synonymized objectively with Triacartus by Campbell (1954) and Loeblich and Tappan (1961).

    It was assigned to Radiolaria by Haeckel (1882).
