Taxonomy
Oriostoma canningense was named by Yu (1993) [Oriostoma? cannignense Yü 1993]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Canning Basin, 20 kilometers southeast of Fitzroy Crossing, which is in an Arenig carbonate limestone in the Gap Creek Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Ecculiomphalus canningensis by Wagner (1999); it was recombined as Malayaspira canningense by Wagner (2023).
