Tiksitheca was named by Rozanov et al. (1969) [Missarzhevsky in Rozanov et al. 1969]. Its type is Tiksitheca licis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Anabarites by Kouchinsky et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Circothecidae by Rozanov et al. (1969); to Calyptoptomatida by Duan (1984); to Problematica by Landing (1988); and to Anabaritidae by Kouchinsky et al. (2017).
