Stuoresimorpha was named by Roniewicz (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 919]. It is not extant. Its type is Isastrea norica.

It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Alpinophylliidae by Roniewicz et al. (2005).
