Stylophyllopsis was named by Frech (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 183,919]. It is not extant. Its type is Stylophyllopsis polyactis.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Stylophyllidae by Roniewicz and Michalík (1998) and Stolarski and Russo (2002).
