Priacodon ferox

Taxonomy
Tinodon ferox was named by Marsh (1880). Its type specimen is YPM 606, a mandible (right mandible with P1-3, M1-3 and additional aveoli), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry 9, Como Bluff (YPM), which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Priacodon.

It was recombined as Priacodon ferox by Marsh (1887), Hay (1902), Simpson (1925), Simpson (1925), Simpson (1929), Hay (1930), Jenkins and Crompton (1979), Rasmussen and Callison (1981) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
