Tiaradendron was named by Quenstedt (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-u J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 838]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Heterocoeniidae by Beauvais (1970); to Rhipidogyridae by Roniewicz (1976); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
