Taxonomy
Trigerastraea was named by Alloiteau (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-u K Ceno Sepkoski's reference number: 2,183]. It is not extant. Its type is Isastrea trigeri.

It was assigned to Andemantastraeidae by Beauvais (1986); to Scleractinia by El-Asa'ad (1989) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Latomeandridae by Baron-Szabo (2021).

R.C. Baron-Szabo 2021Colonial, massive, cerioid, cerio-plocoid, and meandroid. Budding predominantly intracalicular. Calices monocentric or arranged in discontinuous series, separated by tectiform to tholiform collines. Ambulacra present or absent. Costosepta generally compact, confluent to nonconfluent. Septal flanks have fine dentations, flattened and rounded granules, and small pennulae. Columella spongy-papillose or made of irregular segments. Synapticulae numerous. Intertrabecular distance ranging between 120 and 300 μm. Wall parasynapticulothecal, incomplete or absent. Septothecal thickenings present or absent. Endothecal dissepiments abundant.
