Taxonomy
Euomphalus discors was named by Sowerby (1814). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Poleumita, Polytropina, Polytropis.

It was recombined as Polytropis discors by de Koninck (1881) and Perner (1907); it was recombined as Oriostoma discors by Lindström (1884); it was recombined as Polytropina discors by Donald (1905); it was recombined as Poleumita discors by Clarke and Ruedemann (1903), Northrop (1939), Knight (1941) and Wagner (2023).
