It was reranked as the subfamily Georissinae by Lawrence and Newton (1995) and Bouchard et al. (2011); it was corrected as Georissidae by Short and Fikáček (2013) and Cai et al. (2022).
It was assigned to Hydrophilidae by Lawrence and Newton (1995) and Bouchard et al. (2011); and to Hydrophiloidea by Crowson (1981), Short and Fikáček (2013) and Cai et al. (2022).
