Molengraaffia was named by Vinassa de Regny (1915). It is not extant. Its type is Molengraaffia regularis.
It was synonymized subjectively with Acoelia by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
It was assigned to Porifera by Finks et al. (2004); to Auriculospongiidae by Senowbari-Daryan and Maurer (2008); and to Auriculospongiinae by Senowbari-Daryan (2005) and Amirhassankhani et al. (2014).
It was synonymized subjectively with Acoelia by Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
