Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
N. R. Longrich et al. 2013Hagryphus giganteus was described by Zanno and Sampson (2005) on the basis of an articulated manus from the Kaiparowits Formation of Utah. The manus is clearly distinct from that of Chirostenotes pergracilis, but Zanno and Sampson did not consider the possibility that Hagryphus giganteus might be synonymous with Caenagnathus collinsi. However, a manual ungual referred to Caenagnathus (CMN 12322) seems to lack the strong curvature and proximally placed flexor tubercles seen in Hagryphus. Assuming that this ungual is correctly attributed, then Hagryphus giganteus seems to be distinct from Caenagnathus collinsi.
