Taxonomy
Costacallista canoasensis was named by Olsson (1931). Its type locality is Punta Bravo Grits at Cerro Verde - Upper Quebrada Canoas, which is in an Oligocene marine sandstone/conglomerate in the Mancora Formation of Peru.
