Nodosaurinae was named by Abel (1919). It is not extant. Its type is Nodosaurus.

It was assigned to Nodosauridae by Nopcsa (1929), Huene (1959), Sereno (1997), Sereno (1998), Sereno (1999) and Ford (2000).
