Taxonomy
Castorocauda was named by Ji et al. (2006). It is not extant. Its type is Castorocauda lutrasimilis. It is the type genus of Kamtschararctinae.

It was assigned to Kamtschararctinae by Dubrovo (1981); to Docodonta by Ji et al. (2006) and Averianov et al. (2010); and to Mammaliaformes by Bi et al. (2014).
