Ageroolithus fontllongensis was named by Vianey-Liaud and López-Martínez (1997). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is FLL6-1, an egg, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Fontllonga 6, which is in a Maastrichtian lagoonal sandstone in the Figuerola Formation of Spain.
