Zhijinites was named by Qian (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-l Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 923,1030]. Its type is Zhijinites longistriatus.
It was assigned to Cambroclavida by Conway Morris et al. (1997), Sepkoski (2002) and Yao et al. (2005); and to Zhijinitidae by Bengtson (1992) and Parkhaev and Demidenko (2010).
