Taxonomy
Compsonema fragile was named by Gordon and Yochelson (1983). It is not extant. Its type locality is USGS 25568-PC, which is in a Pendleian shallow subtidal limestone in the Diamond Peak Formation of Nevada. It is the type species of Compsonema.
