Cymbularia lenticularis was named by Koken (1897). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sollerön, Dalarne, which is in a Kunda carbonate limestone in the Holen Formation of Sweden.
It was recombined as Tropidodiscus lenticularis by Ebbestad and Yochelson (2000).
