Taxonomy
Hurdia was named by Walcott (1912) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u Sepkoski's reference number: 883]. It is the type genus of Hurdiidae. It was considered monophyletic by Vinther et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Tuzoida by Simonetta and Delle Cave (1975); to Radiodonta by Sepkoski (2002); to Anomalocardidae by Bambach et al. (2007); and to Hurdiidae by Vinther et al. (2014), Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2020) and Pates et al. (2021).
