Gasconadeoconus ponderosa was named by Stinchcomb (1986). It is not extant. Its type locality is Locality M-6, Gasconade Formation, Crawford County, Missouri - Stinchcomb 1986, which is in a Tremadoc reef, buildup or bioherm chert in the Gasconade Formation of Missouri.
