Hadropipetta nevadensis
Taxonomy
Hadropipetta nevadensis was named by Hoare and Plas (2003). Its type specimen is Holotype, UI x8870, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is UCMP D-5252, Lookout Hill, Southern Arrow Canyon Range, which is in an Artinskian shallow subtidal limestone in the Bird Spring Formation of Nevada.
It was corrected as Hadropipetta nevadaensis by Rogalla and Amler (2006).

Description.—Small (12 mm long including rostrum) with short body-snout area; inner shell layer of body with 5–6 radial costae, snout with 10–12 finer costae; outer shell layer of body and snout ornamented with fine to coarse, closely spaced comarginal lirae, body with 0–2 radial costae anterior to primary costa; rostral face concave, angular at midline, strongly produced posteriorly into large, elongate rostrum; inner shell layer of rostral face with 14 small concentric costae, outer shell layer smooth; anterior gape limited to snout, tear-drop in shape, nondenticulate; posterior ventral opening small, subcircular; rostral clefts present; internally with low ridge extending from beak area through rostrum on dorsolateral surface and a small curved ridge extending from dorsal margin in dorsal snout area; larval shell possibly present. |
