Stegocoelia (Hypergonia) baldwinensis was named by Thein and Nitecki (1974) [Stegocoelia (Hypergonia) baldwinensis Thein & Nitecki 1974]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hypergonia baldwinensis by Wagner (2023).
