Hypseloconus compressus was named by Ulrich et al. (1931) [Ulrich & Bridge in Ulrich, Foerste & Bridge 1931]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Kirengella compressus by Stinchcomb and Angeli (2002).
