Taxonomy
Lophospira calcifera was named by Whitfield (1889). It is not extant. Its type locality is Division B Beds, below the lower "Ophileta beds", Section northeast of Shoreham, which is in a Stairsian carbonate limestone/dolomite in the Fort Ann Formation of Vermont.
