Loxonema septentrionale was named by Koken and Perner (1925) [Loxonema septentrionale Koken in Koken & Perner 1925]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Trosviken ved Brevik, which is in a Pusgillian marine shale in the Venstøp Formation of Norway.
